In July, our children enjoyed a truly scrumptious celebration — Chocolate Day! Inspired by Willy Wonka’s magical world, we filled the day with sweet activities, messy play and plenty of giggles.
The day began with excitement as the children created their very own chocolates. Each child was rewarded with a special Golden Ticket for their efforts, just like in the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was a fantastic way to spark imagination and introduce storytelling into hands-on fun.
Next, our little chefs rolled up their sleeves to make delicious chocolate crispy cakes. From mixing to spooning the gooey mixture into cases, the children showed off their fine motor skills and independence — not to mention a lot of taste-testing along the way!
To top it all off, the children dived into an “Augustus Gloop” themed messy play session. With squishy, sticky, chocolate-inspired gloop, they explored textures, cause and effect, and had a brilliant time getting messy together.
While the day was full of fun, it also offered plenty of EYFS learning opportunities:
Chocolate Day was a wonderful mix of imagination, creativity, and hands-on fun. From earning their Golden Tickets to tasting their own creations, the children’s faces said it all — pure joy!
We can’t wait for the next themed day of learning and play at Mickleover.
